Which case size for your gear?
The right case is the smallest one in which all your gear fits with solid walls: any bigger and it is weight and bulk for nothing; any smaller and the walls get thin and the foam tears. Here is how we choose it.
The four sizes

The comparison with the reference size covers the outer dimensions only. Check with your airline which size is accepted, the weight, your ticket’s allowance and the conditions for carrying your gear.
What fits in each
- S: a compact mirrorless camera and its zoom (34 × 29.5 × 15 cm overall).
- M: a body, two f/2.8 zooms, a wireless mic and two batteries (46.2 × 35.5 × 19.2 cm overall).
- L: a mirrorless body, a gimbal and a zoom (56 × 45.5 × 26.5 cm overall).
- XL: a shooting kit: body, gimbal, remote, two zooms and two batteries (66.7 × 53.5 × 30.4 cm overall).
These are real examples placed by our engine; your kit may fit in a smaller size or need the next one up.
What decides the size
- the footprint: each device lies on its largest face, surrounded by 10 to 15 mm of foam depending on the depth of the neighbouring pockets, and at least 20 mm at the edge;
- the height: the deepest pocket must keep 15 mm of foam underneath. A folded gimbal or a cinema camera often needs the L for that reason, not for its footprint;
- the fill: we aim for about 85% of the usable area, to keep the walls thick;
- the trip: if the case has to go in the cabin, only the sizes within the 55 × 40 × 23 cm reference size will do.
The simplest way
List your gear in the configurator: it tries every size, keeps the smallest one where everything fits under these rules, and shows you the layout in 3D. You can then move up a size to keep some room.
