Storing an H6essential and a VideoMic NTG

Why separate the mic from its shock mount and windshield?

The VideoMic NTG spec sheet used here describes the mic alone. Its shock mount and windshield are not within that outline. Storing them mounted means measuring the whole assembly; storing them separately means adding the matching items.

This plan compares the space needed by two devices carried in the same case. It does not certify that they connect directly or form a working recording kit. Check the connectors, power and adapters of your own setup.

    State used: corps seul, capsule XYH-6e retirée. Left out of the published dimensions: capsule XYH-6e et accessoires externes.

  2. 2. RØDE VideoMic NTG

    Storage dimensions: Ø 21.6 × 171 mm · clearance: 3.5 mm per side.

    State used: mic only, shock mount stored separately.

This plan does not include

  • H6essential XYH-6e capsule: no pocket in this example
  • Mic shock mount, windshield and accessories
  • Headphones, cables and adapters
  • Batteries, power and spare cards

Before confirming your layout

  1. The H6essential outline describes the body without the XYH-6e capsule. If you keep it mounted, measure that assembly as a custom item; otherwise add a separate pocket for the capsule.
  2. Measure the mic with everything that stays mounted in transit.
  3. Plan easy access to the recorder without assuming the cables stay plugged in.
  4. Add the accessories in their actual pouches; the diameter and thickness of stored cables cannot be deduced from their length.
